Partners in the Community
They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes an entire community to provide everything we need to ensure Southeast New Mexico families are taken care of. Thank you to our valuable community partners who give so much to our continued success.
We win when we LIVE UNITED.® By forging unlikely partnerships. By finding new solutions to old problems. By mobilizing the best resources. And by inspiring individuals to join the fight against their community’s most daunting social crises.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Mission: To unite people and resources to improve lives and build strong communities thereby ensuring that every individual and family can achieve educational success, financial stability, and good health.
- Vision: We are here to build a supportive family system across all generations that connects individuals, families, and agencies to programs, services, and resources, empowering them to meet their unique needs.
- Goals for Improving: United Way of Lea County aims to provide more resources and funding to partner organizations each year, as the needs of our communities continue to grow. This is not possible without the hard work, dedication, and generous gifts from our donors and community partners, including:
- Volunteers who offer their time, expertise, and knowledge to members of the community through a variety of programs and events.
- Local businesses who not only give monetary pledged donations, but provide food, necessities and much, much more to partner organizations and beneficiaries.
- Community members who donate money, provide valuable tools for neighbors and provide ongoing support for the United Way of Lea County.
United Way of Lea County is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) agency that brings people together to help our community reach its full potential by making systemic changes. We partner with local businesses, government, and social service agencies to address our community’s most pressing needs.
98.5% out of every dollar goes back into our community. We collaborate with 27+ nonprofits agencies in Lea County and fund many different programs through financial or volunteer means. We have measurable goals and results for each of our focus areas, ensuring your money is used wisely. We also fund up to 10+ yearly Innovative and Focus one-time grants (in the summer) for new or expanded programs. We do this by using community volunteers that review our partner program applicants and ensure that their mission fulfills our endowment Trust requirements.
UWOLC has 3 full time staff and 3 part time staff to fulfill the mission of the United Way. We have knowledgeable, well-trained volunteers who represent our diverse community and a diverse board of directors that sets policy, vision and strategic direction.
Volunteers from the community serve on allocation committees; they review grant applications, financials and go visit applicant agencies. They make recommendations to the Board after arduous process. We work hard to make sure our committees look like our community.
