Our Work in Lea County

United Way of Lea County focuses on improving lives by addressing the most critical needs in our community. Through direct programs, partnerships, and advocacy, we support individuals and families on their path to stability and long-term success. Our work is guided by five interconnected impact areas: education, health, financial stability, basic needs, and community resiliency. We win when we LIVE UNITED.® By forging unlikely partnerships. By finding new solutions to old problems. By mobilizing the best resources. And by inspiring individuals to join the fight against their community’s most daunting social crises.

TURFS (Teams United Representing Field Sports)

TURFS (Teams United Representing Field Sports), also known as The United Way Recreational Flag Football Series, promotes youth development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles through organized flag football. By removing barriers to participation, TURFS creates inclusive opportunities for youth to engage in sports, build confidence, and develop leadership skills.

In addition to its focus on youth development, TURFS serves as a fundraiser benefiting the Lea County Schools Crisis Fund, helping provide critical assistance to school families facing unexpected hardship. Through play, partnership, and purpose, TURFS unites the community in support of both students and families in need.
